Kama Manas ; Desire + lower mind , rebirth and karma . Patanjali Yoga sutra 13

.

A. Lower manas, or concrete mind is the basic factor in the production of the etheric body. B. Kama, or desire is the prime factor in calling the dense physical vehicle into being.

.

The two together are responsible for manifested existence. It is well known that the tree of life is depicted with the roots above and the flowering leaves downwards. In the tiny tree of life of the ego (soul ) the same symbolic presentation holds true. The roots are found on the mental plane. The flowering forth into objectivity and fruition is to be seen on the physical plane.

.
Therefore it is necessary for the aspirant to lay the axe to the root of the tree, or to deal with the thoughts and desires which produce the physical body. He must enter the subjective realm if he wants to deal with that which will continue to keep him on the wheel of rebirth.

.

When the seeds are eradicated, fruition is not possible. When the root is separated from its externalities on any of the three planes, then the life-energy no longer flows downwards.

.
The three words birth, life and experience sum up human existence, its object, method and goal and with them we need not deal.

.

The whole subject of karma
(or the law of Cause and Effect) is dealt with in this sutra, and is of too vast a subject to be enlarged upon here. Suffice it to say that, from the standpoint of the Yoga
Sutras, karma is of three kinds:

.

1. Latent Karma. Those seeds and causes which are yet undeveloped and inactive and
must work out to fruition in some part of the present or subsequent lives.

.
2. Active Karma. Those seeds or causes [Page 146] which are in process of fruition
and for which the present life is intended to provide the needed soil for the flowering forth.

.
3. New Karma. Those seeds or causes which are being produced in this life, and which must inevitably govern the circumstances of some future life.”

.

.

According to Patanjali karma seeds are of 3 kinds to work out white, grey and black.
A forth kind is mentioned which is actually non-karma by the yogi who has no attachments and create no further karma.

The Light of the Soul – Patanjali Yoga Sutras
Paraphrased by

– AA Bailey / DK

.

.

.

.

You must reap what you sow, but you may select your Seeds, and so determine the nature of tommorrows harvest.

.

“We cannot escape from karma, because in all the ( manifested) universethere is no such thing as inaction, and the literal meaning of karma is action.
( The same meaning is behind the hebrew noun translated “ work “ )

.

You must reap what you sow, but you may select your Seeds, and so determine the nature of tommorrows harvest. As for todays tares among the wheat use your discrimination, you can put even bad karma to good use if your ingenious.

.

“ The planet exhalted in Libra is Saturn “ . It represents the power of limitation which makes possible the manifestation of specific forms. The power of limitation is the active power in work in what the orientals call karma. It expresses itself to us as undeviating justice. Hence Saturn has its highest manifestation in the Great Work which enables us to control karma.

.

Saturn represents limitation and form, the Sun stands for light and radiation. When the power of limitation is used positively it is combined with the radiant energy of the sun, thus enlightenment exalt form.
( To express the same in an ” alchemical meaning ” : having to do with transmutation of “ lead “ into “ Gold”  .

.

The white Rose

The Rose : represents desire symbolically.

Its thorns symbolize pain . Its bloom typifies beauty and joy It is White like the SUN , to intimate that through right cultivation of desire nature we may bring it into unison with Primal Will. To control the Desire Nature , to cultivate it aright , to use it so that we may enjoy the beauty it can bring us without suffering the pains resulting from abuse.

.

In all the universe there is only ONE Will-power . It is the power expressed through all the various laws of life. Through want of right discriminiation a man may suppose himself to have something he calls “ will “ . He may go so far in his delusions as to suppose he can pit that imaginary “ will “ of his against the laws of life . He who can discriminate is not so deluded . hence , in Tarot (ancient wisdom preserved through pictoral keys ), the key picturing the True Will –power, and mans relation to it , follows the Key which represents Discrimination .”

.

– Paul Foster Case , Tarot Fundementals 1936

.

.

The Ancient Symbolic of the Rose for desire symbolically, is the progress of changing or transforming the colors from deep red at some point crossing over (purified ) blue to white eventually.

Yet there is a certain red ´ ruby like´ that is already pure, in a manner of speaking or understanding.

.

In other analogies The Rose is used also to symbolize the Personality , which is to eventually (in one terminology ) to be refined , purified and Sacrificed on the cross ; The Rose on the Cross.
